Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
I've made mistakes.
I've had regrets.
Once upon a time, I was a stupid teenager, delving into a realm, a depth of magic I didn't fully understand.
I had the chance for an easy life; rolling in good fortune, not a care in the world. I turned away. I saw the world through rose-coloured glasses, and for a while, it morphed into my reality. I only saw what I wanted to see; a distortion of the life I was leading.
Then suddenly that life became smoke and mirrors. I span a web of lies and deceptions, to bury those young and naive years of mine. It grew deeper and more complex with every season, every moon, every second passing. Soon enough I became an unknown; a ghost of my former self in image, but in mind, lost, without cause. I followed this creation, this safety net, even as it collapsed beneath my feet and ultimately betrayed me to my death.
I became a revenant, once forgotten, now reborn.
But sometimes I see that image, that former self haunting me like a shadow which never fades. It grins at me with knowing hollow eyes, and watches every step I take, every move I make.
It reminds me of what I would rather forget.
Let me take you with me on a journey, so you can see what I became, and now, what ive become.
