A girl whose mother was murdered at the front door, before her father could walk out of his room -- the mob did it, though they had actually been after her father. Her Daddy owed money, and they wanted it. They were prepared to take her hostage, but her mother answered instead of she -- and that one small change.. It cost her mother her life, but saved the little girls; who was ten at the time.
After her mother's death Prudence and her father left Germany to move to Londontown, close to where she would go to school.
Her father plays the violin, and she has been taught. Her violin costs enough to pay for everything on her school list -- but her father struggles to make ends meet. Not only does he play, but he also makes violins and sells them too.
