She must have a guardian angel...

 After being born with an illness that threatened her life as an infant, no one thought Thistle would make it past babyhood. But she survived--through everything that life saw fit to put her through--including severe issues with her lungs that doctors would only later identify as asthma and the harsh split-up of Mum and her Father.

 Lael. Her older brother that she adores. Her hero, yet equally as powerless in a strange world of mystery and magic. He's there for her through thick and thin, always looking out for his little sister.
